![]() Only Duran will be able to dish out physical damage, though this is compensated by Angela bringing firepower through magic. If you take this be sure to make Kevin and Duran 'Dark' for their first class changes to avoid healing redundancy.ĭuran + Angela + Charlotte: A pretty balanced combination with a tank, physical damage dealer, magical offensive power and a healer. Kevin + Charlotte + Duran: plenty of physical power here with both Kevin and Duran, but these are also the three healing characters and saber magic supporters, so there is a lot of redundancy here. Riesz: Good physical damage dealer, good tank and uses support magic to either buff the party or debuff enemies. Hawkeye: Decent damage dealer, good magical damage dealer and also learns support spells. Also learns support spells and some damage dealing spells. His 'Light' classes learn healing magic.Ĭharlotte: Best healer and learns healing spells for any class. Kevin: Excellent physical damage dealer, good tank and can learn limited support magic. His 'Light' classes learn healing magic.Īngela: Excellent magic damage dealer. Very roughly these are the roles of characters:ĭuran: Excellent Tank, good physical damage dealer and limited support magic. Not all spells can be bought this way and you can only bring a limited amount of items into combat, but you can use this to cover for gaps in your roster in the event that you settle for a suboptimal character and classes combination. There exists a 'Night Market' where you can buy items that replicate the effects of character spells. Making them use spells and items can delay the inevitable some, as do abilities that draw enemy attention towards the player (as the player can manually dodge most attacks). You either need to micromanage your team or be prepared to see them keel over at the drop of a hat. In other words, you don't need to worry about making a bad party for your first playthrough. The difficulties above that is where any potential problems start. ![]() For magical damage dealers it is Angela > Hawkeye > Charlotte > Riesz (Duran and Kevin do not learn offensive magic while Riesz can only ever learn a single offensive spell).Īll difficulties up-to-and-including 'Hard' are actually pretty easy. Certain character classes might offer abilities that can allow characters to rise above their standard position in the above mentioned lineup. ![]() The overall style of physical combat orientedness is Kevin > Duran > Riesz > Hawkeye > Angela/Charlotte. The main character is narratively important though, and certain non-combat sections of the game force you to control that character only (such as visits to towns). So in terms of overall playstyle it doesn't really matter if a certain character is your 1st, 2nd or 3rd selected character, as you can just switch to them whenever you want. Your main character determines important story beats, there are 3 pairs of selectable characters that share their main story (your 1st and 2nd party members in all the combinations you listed), and you can freely switch between party members once they've been recruited. abit flat? Not sure whether it is because they need to make this work regardless of which characters you choose but I don’t feel anything for the characters or plot haha like it doesn’t make me want to save the tree of mana if you get what i mean? I’ll see how it goes I guess. but i’m sure it’ll be fine!! hahaĮarly thoughts on this is that, combat is fine and all but the characters and plot kinda falls. In that order - does this make sense? Or would you advise to choose another main character/swap out the 3rd party member?Įdit: Thanks everyone for your advice!! I’ve decided to start off with Kevin/Charlotte/Riesz and going ahead with the rest hahaha now I’m just trying to figure out the training points and the whole light/dark thing. The combination I’m looking at is: Kevin + Charlotte + Duran Duran + Angela + Charlotte Hawkeye + Riesz + Duran I have done absolutely no research on the classes except that I personally am inclined towards physical dmg classes. Am just about to start playing trials of mana & i read somewhere that there are quite a few party combinations and as a story completionist, i wanted to plan out the combinations and get a sense check on the party composition viability + how interesting the story is.
